Music

Having not realised we weren't able to use music that was copyrighted, I went online and found these...

I was quite dissapointed after descovering that I couldn't use the song, but after looking through this really interesting site, I was really pleased to find all sorts of really interesting and exciting music. I downloaded lots that captured a range of different moods relevant to my opening, until settling on these three:

Drifting Garden (Logic Moon, Polygon Garden EP) - Ident

I really like the introduction to this music as it is really dramatic and mysterious. It reminds me of a typewriter in terms of the clicking noise and is quite unsettling as it gathers up and becomes slightly more overwhelming. I chose it for my ident because it suited the 'Perplexity' theme and I thought it would make a convincing ident sound.

I Remember Driving Fast at Night (Experience. Hold, March Forth) - Animation

This follows my initial plan for the music to build up and become very intense and almost magical. In editing, I've started to lower the sound at the beginning so that after the newspaper it suddenly comes to life until fully emerging at the tea set clip. I chose this music because it makes me think of images forming and coming together and generally becoming very big and expressive. I could use it to place the clips together and emphasise the direction of the film. The rhythm and rush of the music is also quite unsettling, which will hopefully help to indicate that the couple aren't going to end up together.

Returning Home Having Grown (Of a Star, Finding Gaia) - Film

As the couple walk in, the music creates an eerie atmospheric sense before becoming more relaxed. This helps to transform the dream world to reality. The music alters, though still to the same rhythm, the timing of which I will use for the final opening credits before the indication of moving home which sets the scene for the rest of the film.
