Move Opening - Introduction

(Idea 1)

The shots go through random decades from the 1800s to today. The same man takes photos throughout history; going through various relevant costume changes. The sets are quite plain - suggesting that the images are not real. He takes on roles such as Charlie Chaplin, which indicate specific moments through time. Clips are short and fast paced, the action moves with the beat of the music. The opening credits move throughout still clips, stopping when the narrator introduces the film by telling the audience that this man first captures his future wife in his (6,789th) photo; and that this was always going to be his destiny throughout the course of time.

Idea 2 - Original Draft and Plan

A picnic basket stands in a small grassy area with a few trees. It is quite reserved. A blanket slowly falls out of the basket, neatly folded, and slithers beside the nearest tree. It unfolds. Suddenly the basket, though no bigger than a shoe box, starts opening to reveal traditional food and decorations. Lanterns and pearls emerge around the branches - making what originally looked dark and dismal into a small area which seems perfectly secluded and personal. A single drop of water spills from one of the branches and, in return, a small number of flowers spread out through the blanket. They appear beautiful and delicate, yet clearly artificial. Two empty glasses are placed on the blanket with a wine bottle. As the rest of the objects move more dramatically, they are the last items placed carefully. It is a world based on dream, with no reality or real expectation. A couple in well dressed clothing and in their early twenties, slowly walk in to the frame and steal the image. They dance for a moment before they fade from the background; and then the background fades without leaving a trace of ever being there.

I did not chose Idea 1 because it doesn't focus on any particular idea or concept. It is difficult to follow and confusing. However, the strength of this over my final draft idea is that it establishes the main character - but I want to focus more on the couple as two individual leads as opposed to following the story of one. I am going to try to consider the next part of the story and the main plot of the film. This will help me to establish the characters and add to my idea. I would like to have a short clip of the two leads in their separate lives before the title is shown and the film would commence.
