SCREENPLAY

EXT. FIELD – DAY (FADES TO NIGHT)

A traditional picnic basket is settled in the midst of a grassy field. It is bright in colour but frosty and clear from flowers. There are no signs of animals; the only life in view is a tree stood not far from the right side of the basket.

A blanket falls from the basket and settles beside the tree. Objects and food spill out in the same way; creating a dramatic picnic scene.
A young couple step in to the frame, hand in hand. They are both in their early twenties. They begin to dance.

The man (Darren Stuart) leads, wearing a neat suit of pale brown. His shirt is light blue. As would suggest from the gentle bounce in his step, his face is soft and welcoming. His look reflects his calm and caring nature, but reveals nothing more of his personality.
The girl (Emily Richards) is dressed in an elegant chiffon blue dress, a similar pale blue to his shirt. Her hair is curled but pulled away from her face. She laughs widely and her eyes clasp on her partner; neither of them have anything to hide or to offer.

EXT. ROAD – DAY
A bus passes from view.

Narrator

That was the bus Emily Richards had meant to take. Having spent the evening calculating costs and figures; and trying to fix what had already been broken, she missed the first chance she had to turn her life around. She worked at a small music store owned by Jason Finch, and spent each day tapping her foot and playing the guitar. The combination of notes, rhythm and texture sent her to a world where she was able to find dreams; not damage them.

INT. Music Store – DAY
Emily arranges through documents. A letter warns of the shop's possible closure.

INT. BUS – DAY
Darren sits quietly; out of the way of other passengers.
